This Privacy Policy explains how TabStage ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our browser extension.

We built TabStage to respect your privacy. We only collect the bare minimum amount of anonymous data necessary to understand if the extension is working correctly and to guide future improvements.

1. Information We DO NOT Collect

We absolutely do not collect, store, or transmit any sensitive user data. Specifically, we do not collect:

• Personally Identifiable Information (PII) such as names, emails, or passwords.
• Your browsing history.
• The URLs of the pages you visit.
• The content of the web pages you view (including specific guitar tabs or songs).
• Any keystrokes or form inputs.

2. Information We Collect

We collect basic, anonymous usage analytics to understand how the extension is being used. This data includes:

• Anonymous Client ID: A randomly generated string created when you install the extension to distinguish unique (but anonymous) sessions.
• Feature Usage: General interactions with the extension, such as logging when a tab is successfully formatted or when the extension is opened.
• System Information: Basic diagnostic data provided by the browser, such as your browser version and operating system.

3. Third-Party Services (Google Analytics)

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) via the Measurement Protocol to process the anonymous usage data described above. This helps us count how many active users the extension has and identify if certain features are failing. Google Analytics may process this anonymous data according to its own Privacy Policy. We do not use Google Analytics for advertising or retargeting.

4. Data Sharing and Sale

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third parties, data brokers, or advertisers. Your data is used exclusively by the developer of TabStage to maintain and improve the product.

5. Compliance with Chrome Web Store Policies

This extension complies with the Google Chrome Web Store User Data Policy. We only request the minimum permissions (storage) necessary to execute the extension's core functionality and to save your anonymous Client ID locally on your machine.

6. Your Choices & Opt-Out

Because the data we collect is entirely anonymous, it cannot be tied to your personal identity. However, you are always in control. You can stop all data collection instantly by disabling or uninstalling the extension from your browser via the Chrome Extensions menu (chrome://extensions/).
